I was pissed off at a journalism and media conference and I'm about to make it everybody's problem.

Core Values of The Ugly Union

  • "Normal" is an oppressive and false ideal placed on all beings from a very young age. Trying to "normalize" different concepts or people will not have the intended goal of peacefully integrating them into society, but will instead force them to compress themselves into a falsified and weak version of themselves. We do not look to normalize, we look to accept.
  • We value supporting and loving minorities and oppressed groups infinitely more than we will ever enjoy hurting and bashing oppressors.
  • Tone policing does nothing productive in conversations surrounding how to improve people's lives. It's better to have someone say "I support a tranny's right to do their surgery shit" than "I support transgender individuals, but I do agree that there should be some limits regarding who can have gender-affirming care"
  • We acknowledge that everybody has biases buried deep within their very being, because bias is an unfortunate but innate flaw in humanity. Trying to deny existing biases within oneself is counterproductive and can lead to more harm done to others. We think that it's better for people to admit their bias and work to repair it instead of denying, playing the victim card, and then accusing others of being the harmful ones in order to protect their feelings.
  • Everyone has a right to be seen.
  • Everyone has a right to live their life to a different set of "rules" than yours.
  • Strawberries are so fucking tasty.
